Book Description: It’s my first day back with the Carolina Reapers and the elevator just stopped. At least I’m in here with the girl of my dreams. London Foster is smart, sexy, and everything I’ve ever wanted— Until the elevator doors finally open and she runs right into my biological brother’s arms. Maxim is everything I hate—the chosen son who wasn’t a dirty little secret. I grew up with a hardworking single mom. He had a perfect family with our NHL legend father. Not only is his arm around London, he’s just been signed to the Reapers. He might have history with London, But I’m ready to fight for her future. Our chemistry can’t be matched—she walks into the room and we’re on fire. And the way she sighs my name? Perfection. But she’s our new game day coordinator, and to keep her position, we have to keep ours under wraps. And with my brother fighting for her at every turn? The secrets between us could be enough to send us all up in flames.

My Review (w/spoilers):

Jansen Sterling & London

This is the 6th book in the Carolina Reapers Series. I’d like to think this is the first book of the second half of the series. It’s missing a lot of the other characters we’ve read about and grown to love, and introduced a lot of new characters, or ones that were minorly mentioned in previous books. I really liked Connell and Logan and they aren’t mentioned in this book. I’m glad they talked about Cannon & Persephone though, because they’re my favorite so far.

“I’ve never been the reckless type, Jansen, but I swear you kiss all my common sense away.” -London

Sterling’s main storyline involves his half-brother-Maxim. He is also on the team, and good friends with London. The first book I read of this series was Maxim’s, ironically the last book. It’s the best friends brother trope, which is my favorite. So going into Sterling’s story was a bit weird for me, because I had seen them when they moved past their animosity and difference and were actually real brothers, that loved each other and friends.

I liked how Sterling and London met, in the elevator and how he helped her calm down and how he was completely determined to help her overcome her fears. It really is love at first sight for him. They both have a lot of sexual chemistry from the beginning too. They do a lot of stuff at a lot of different places. Haha I loved when they went to the theme park. That was fun! And the kiss on the roller coaster, SWOON.

“The world had taken on a dreary, gray overcast sky for the last two weeks. London hadn’t just taken her body from my bed or her heart from my hands—she’d packed up all the joy in life and walked away without a second look.” -Sterling

I love all the books in this series immensely, but if I had to choose my least favorite, Sterling’s story would be it. It felt frustrating? I think that’s the word. It just felt like they were kept unnecessarily apart.

The end of this book also sets up Briggs & Bristol’s story.

Altogether, still a great steamy hockey romance that’s worth the read.

If you’re interested in their wedding, Caspian’s story is based around returning to his and his sister’s hometown for her and Jansen’s wedding.
