My Rating:
Book Description: Four years ago, one mistake—one woman—cost me my NHL team. I’ve worked every day since to ensure I’m irreplaceable to the Carolina Reapers. I’m faster, stronger, and sure as hell smarter. With a new million-dollar endorsement deal, I’m at the top of my game— Until I realize the very woman who got me traded is now the CEO who just signed my deal—under the guise of making amends. Brilliant, gorgeous, infuriating Bristol McClaren now owns my ass for the next six months. I might despise her for what happened between us, but I’m legally locked in. Worse? I haven’t been able to stop thinking about that smart mouth since that night. She screams sex and power and everything I know better than to touch. But logic doesn’t matter when our chemistry incinerates every good intention. We’re either at each other’s throats or desperate to rip each other’s clothes off. This can’t work. She’s high class New York, and I’m married to the ice in Charleston. That doesn’t stop me from wanting. When it comes to this woman, I might just forget the past and give her free rein to burn my future. Because one without her in it just isn’t an option.

My Review (w/spoilers):
Briggs & Bristol
This is book 7 in the Carolina Reapers series. While this isn’t my favorite of the series, I still really enjoyed the story. Briggs has been in the background almost the entire series, so it was nice to see the demon of the team got his HEA. Although if there is someone who is more brooding than him, it’s Brogan, and I’m excited to see him get his happily ever after. There’s something about a grumpy hero that only loves his woman that makes me swoon. Cannon’s story is like that too.
I also know that I can’t live without you. Survive? Yes. Live? No. My heart doesn’t beat the same without you, Bristol.” – Briggs
The beginning of this story starts at the end of Sterling’s story, as they are reunited at the auction. Briggs has a lot of animosity towards Bristol, from the beginning. We find out it’s because she lied about her age, and he got kicked off his hockey team because her brother found out. The age gap isn’t that bad, but because she was 17, it was an issue. I get it though.
“We had that time because Bristol gave it to us. She chose me, chose us, and I would never let her regret it. Ever.” -briggs
What he says at the beginning of the book had me laughing “Nope. I’m the adult version of Disneyland, and only eighteen and up get to ride.” Poor guy.
This book is seriously nothing but miscommunications. Isn’t that always the case? If these two were more open and honest and didn’t let others dictate what they did, I think it would have been different. But of course, we wouldn’t have a book.
Altogether a pretty good book. I wouldn’t read it again, especially with all the other great books in this series, but still a good read.
