My Rating:
Book Description: As the best offensive defenseman in the NHL, you’d think my skills would get more notice than my face. Ridiculous, but I’ve been dubbed the “pretty boy” since rookie year. Pair the looks with my multi-million-dollar career, and it’s a recipe to get used. I’ve been burned before, and it’s never happening again. Then I meet Delaney Collins—Charleston’s impossibly sexy librarian. She’s brilliant, funny, and the chemistry between us crackles every time we touch. But she doesn’t have a clue who I am. Delaney treats me like a normal person, seeing straight to the heart of me. And all it wants is her. Only problem? She hates celebrity athletes. Her own dark past has ensured she’ll never take a chance on one again. But the deeper we get, the harder it is for me to admit what I do on the ice. All I’ve ever wanted is for someone to love me for me—not the paycheck, the fame, or the face. But I’m not sure love will be enough to save us when the truth comes out.

My Review (w/spoilers):
Logan & Delaney
This is book number four out of ten in the Carolina Reapers series and is probably my third favorite in the series, after Cannon and Caspian.
If you want to know more about Logan before he finds his happily ever after with Delaney, I suggest reading the book before this-Connell. In Connell’s story, we find out about his relationship with his ex-girlfriend Blaire. It sets up Logan and Delaney’s story and explains why he is the way he is; “Stupid, happy people with their stupid, happy little lives. Or maybe they were really the smart ones who had simply chosen better than I had.” Poor guy. Blaire really did a number on him-only wanting to be with him for his celebrity status.
And then of course there’s Delaney. Poor girl was treated terribly by her ex. I mean what kind of douche takes pictures of a girl while she’s in such a vulnerable state?! It’s 1000% understandable that she doesn’t trust men. I still don’t think it’s fair of her to be prejudiced against all athletes. I understand it, I just don’t think it’s right.
“She looked back to me, and our eyes locked. F**k. Words. F**k. Something. Yada. Yada. Words. Yeah. F**k me, she did it again.” -Logan
I loved how they met-where she throws a book at him because she’s so scared. Hilarious. And his struggle to speak later when they had a moment, so cute.
I like that Delaney is determined to find the perfect book for everyone. “To prick that need to find the perfect book for each individual who claimed they didn’t love to read. I didn’t believe in that—those people had simply yet to find the perfect book for them. I took pride in converting “non-readers” into avid-readers.” I feel the same way. People always say they hate reading, but I think it just takes the RIGHT book to make someone like books. It’s like television. You just have to find the right tv show to get you hooked. Except, in my opinion, books are better because you get more details, and it allows for your imagination to fill in the blanks.
Cannon and Logan are best friends, and it’s because of Cannon and his addiction to books that Logan even meets Delaney. His reaction to Logan’s deal with Delaney had me laughing; “If you fuck this up, I swear I will do unkind things to you. Do you understand me, Ward?” Logan mentions that Delaney is the equivalent of Cannon’s drug dealer, and he’s not far off.
“It was her heart that I wanted more than her body.” -Logan
Their freaking first kiss after he gave her the first edition of her favorite novel was all too much. It was freaking SWOON from beginning to end. Ugh I loved it. When he demanded she open for him when they were kissing. Oh man… and after, Delaney had me laughing; “No! Nope! No!”…“You stay there. What the hell, Logan? It’s like you’re catnip or something!” My lips turned up at the accusation. “And you’re a cat?” “Shut up! No talking. Just close that mouth. Those lips. Shit!” His response after she left also had me laughing; “She disappeared down the next row and left me standing with a throbbing hard-on in the middle of the World War II section. I glared at the book on the end that read, Awaken the Sleeping Giant. “Yeah, tell me something I don’t know.”
Okay, when Persephone went all calm badass at Scythe, I was quietly cheering. They all had Logan’s back and it was awesome.
“I don’t know what I did to deserve you,” I said, my words a whisper. “We deserve each other,” he said, his hands grazing down my bare sides. “You’re my match in every single way.”
Her response to him asking if she was really okay with his career; “…yeah, I don’t care as long as you come home to me. Nothing else matters as long as you’re you, and I’m me, and we’re…us.” Ugh, swoon. Good stuff.
The epilogue, where they got to take their vacation together was so freaking cute. Perfect ending, and a perfect segway into Cannon’s story.
Altogether, I really liked this book. Logan had many of the qualities I would look for in a man, so that definitely played a part in me liking it. But it also had a really great story line and great character development. Goodness, this book had so many quotable, swoony moments, I couldn’t even pick my favorite. I would definitely read this book again.
