Book Description: Have you ever heard of a man-in-waiting? Yeah, neither has my best friend’s soon-to-be monster-in-law. Ooo, sorry, I meant mother-in-law. Nor has she heard of the term, what the bride wants, the bride gets. With wedding planning underway and a short timeline, my best friend, Lia, has recruited me to help her battle the snarly beast that is Mrs. Beaver. Not scared at all, I accept the challenge as her man-in-waiting–aka, man of honor–and take matters into my own hands. The only problem is, with every second we draw closer to the wedding, I’m starting to see my best girl in a different light. She’s always been beautiful to me, but now . . . I find myself staring a touch too long. My hand lingering for one more minute. And when she’s upset? Allowing her to sleep in my bed. And before I know what’s happening, it hits me like a ton of bricks. I’m in love with my best friend. Not just in love, but infatuated. No one compares to her and nothing seems to distract me from that realization. Not the girl I try to date while I help plan Lia’s wedding. Not her angry fiancé who thinks I’m growing too close. And not the looming deadline of her nuptials. Which means, there’s only one thing left for me to do. Prove to Lia I’m the one she should be with instead. But with the pressure of her engagement, the stress from her soon-to-be mother-in-law, and the breath-stealing nerves running through me, I’m finding it a lot harder to claim the girl than I would like to admit.

My Review:
Breaker & Ophelia
This is my bajillionth Meghan Quinn novel, so I knew it was going to be good, she never disappoints.
When I read So Not Meant to Be (the previous book), I thought Breaker was a weird name for a man. I also thought that Breaker seemed really nice and cared a lot about his brothers.
Right from the beginning I was sold. I loved the first chapter, where we got to see how the pair met – at a freaking secret scrabble club! And the Rory Gilmore picture hanging on the wall. I related to all the nerdiness throughout the whole book. It’s a huge reason why it’s in my top favorite books.
What was great was that they were best friends AND next-door neighbors (3 knocks – swoon).
Breaker’s inner monologue was hilarious; “Sweet Jesus, man . . . do not get a goddamn boner. Penis, do you hear me? This is not a moment to defy me. Be a good fucking listener. Think of flaccid things. FLACCID. Flaccid, floppy, dangly, pendulous . . . limp. There you go.”
I loved that even though Breaker didn’t like Lia’s fiancé and wanted her for himself, he still helped her and stood by her. I mean he definitely had ulterior motives, but he was still her best friend.
I say, “I love you, Ophelia. So fucking much.” She smirks and says, “I love you too . . . Pickle.”
Lia was a good Heroine. I didn’t find her annoying or meek. She stood up for herself and I liked that.
The relationships between the brothers were awesome. I loved their banter, and how much they supported each other. I related to it as well.
There was also a bonus chapter at the end, where we got a nice glimpse into the future. A perfect ending to the Cane Brothers series.
“Sure, do I wish I’d realized several years ago that getting together with Lia was inevitable—some might say . . . a long time coming? Of course. But I also realize the extraordinary bond we built over the years, and Lia might be right. I’m not sure how close we would really be if we didn’t have those years to bond.”
If you’re looking for a steamy, best friends to lover’s romance, with all the feels, pick up this Meghan Quinn novel!
This is book 3 out of 3 in the Cane Brother’s Series. It is however, a standalone.
