Book Description: Her bosom heaved at an alarming rate as his rough hand found its way down to her soft, yet wiry briar patch… Can you say briar patch in a romance novel? What about breasts? Do bosoms really heave? Goodness, I have no idea what I’m doing. I’m a virgin attempting to write a romance novel and I’m having an impossible time trying to write a passionate and swoon-worthy love scene worthy of being published, thanks to my lack of experience. My two best friends encourage me to drop the pen, step outside my comfort zone, and gain some real life experience through multiple dating facets such as blind dates, online profiles, and random hookups. But losing my “flower” is proving to be much tougher than expected… This is the story of my awkward, humiliating, and slightly terrifying life, but like all romance novels, I know it will end in a happily ever after. At least that’s what I keep telling myself.

My Review (w/spoilers):

Henry & Rosie

So, the original book was published as The Virgin Romance Novelist in 2015. In 2018, Meghan Quinn published this version with two added parts: The Randy Romance ‘Novelist’ and The ‘Parenting Romance Novelist’. The last two parts are much shorter than the original book, but they are nice look into life after you meet the love of your life, and I LOVE IT. Rosie even says; “In fictional stories, couples were catapulted into their happily ever after. In my mind, they were frolicking across prairies filled with daffodils, walking hand in hand, gazing at each other through rose-colored glasses. The outside world was non-existent. Couples were trapped in a cocoon of love for the rest of their lives, never seeing a dark moment ever again. This theory was rudely destroyed after I experienced the big kiss that faded into black. No one stopped to congratulate us on finding the person we were meant to spend the rest of our life with. There was no one to film us during our big kiss. Cameras didn’t travel in circles around us, capturing our mouths melting into each other, sealing our love, like every epic romantic movie I’d ever watched.” This is precisely why I love Meghan Quinn’s writing so much. She does such a good job at making her love stories relatable, and for the most part relatable.

“because when I was finally ready to have a man bee pollinate my flower, I wanted to remember everything about it.” -Rosie

This book is hands down my favorite contemporary romance. It spoke to my soul in so many ways. I laughed my ass off, cringed (hardcore), nodded in agreement, got angry and swooned. It was the full range of emotions. I just related to Rosie so much. Her naivety, or inexperience and her goals in life. Everything about her is very similar to my life and I loved reading her love story play out. Some people think it was too ridiculous, and no one is that unlucky… Well, I’m here to tell you that there are people like this. haha I related to Rosie’s awkwardness and her lack of awareness to the opposite sex. I may not have THAT bad of luck, but it’s still pretty bad.

“no matter what, you had to work to find love. It wasn’t a given and it wasn’t instantaneous. It was a privilege to find and should never be taken lightly.” -Rosie

When Rosie got her wax done… I was seriously crying my eyes out from laughing so hard. So many hilarious moments, I can’t even name them all. Even the chapter titles are hilarious… ‘The Man Milk Shuffle’, ‘Penis Allergies Please’ and ‘Triceratops Tits’. Just absolutely ridiculous. haha

Freaking Henry is probably my favorite book boyfriend of all time. He’s just so sweet and care for Rosie so much. I mean the guys’ been in love with her since they met and settled with being her best friend. Ugh. I would like my own Henry please! Thank you.

“You have to work for love, you have to earn it, and you sure as hell have to maintain it.” -Henry

I will 1000% read this book at least once a year. It’s just so good. And if you haven’t read it yet, I seriously recommend you doing it RIGHT NOW!
