My Favorite Reading Spots
Right there, that place you just thought about, that’s probably your absolute favorite spot.
The first thing that popped into my mind was my bed, laying down, snuggled COMPLETELY underneath my warm blanket, with my kindle. Yeah, that’s definitely up there for my happy places.
I’m a weirdo (like most of us book nerds) and like to have a tv show playing in the background. It has to be a show or movie, preferably a tv show, because they last longer, I’ve seen. My go to’s are The Office, New Girl, The Middle, Will & Grace and King of Queens. If it’s one you’ve seen a bajillion times, you’re less likely to get distracted, but you’re also not sitting in complete silence.
Then I like to huddle underneath my blanket. The key is to create a breathing pocket so your hot breath doesn’t suffocate you.
Going under the blanket helps me shut everything out and focus on the book. I know what you’re thinking. You just said you put the tv on to prevent silence. But that’s a different type of silence. Don’t judge me. 😂 Underneath my blanket is my absolute favorite spot.
Another spot I really enjoy is outside, on the back patio, while it’s raining. Depending on the temperature, I might have a blanket and a cup of cocoa or coffee. I live in Phoenix, so it’s a hit or miss with the blanket and coffee.
When we go fishing, I find I get a tremendous amount of reading done. Sitting on a rock in one spot with nature and no distractions. Yeah, you could get through a lot of content in one sitting. Be wary of the lake and your book/kindle. I haven’t ever dropped either in the lake *knocks on wood*, I death grip my book. #nottodaysatan.
This is one y’all might relate to.
In the break room at work, where I sit with my headphones on, playing no music, just so people don’t talk to me, and I can read in silence while I stuff my face. It works, people don’t bother me. Feel free to steal that knowledge nugget… you’re welcome.
Now let’s name all those random spots us book nerds read in, that aren’t our favorite, but… if you have time to lean you have time to… read.
- In line at Ross Dress for Less -let’s be real, that line is like waiting for the shuttle to Disneyland
- In an elevator
- At the light after the freeway exit during rush hour. This is almost an everyday one for me #noshame
- Waiting rooms
- Family get togethers, in a corner. (including holidays) Even though they judge you 🤷♀️
- The bathroom
- I wish I could say car rides, but my vertigo says that’s a no go
- Hair/nail appointment
- In the kitchen while cooking dinner (not an easy task)
No matter the spot, whether it’s our favorite or just the most convenient, us readers make do. Nothing comes between us and the next juicy page of our book. *waggles eyebrows*
