Book Description: There’s no one more off-limits than my best friend’s little sister—and there’s no woman I’ve ever wanted more … I’ve spent my whole life lying about my feelings for Brooke. To myself more than anyone. When she comes to Ridley University—where I’m a star on the championship-winning hockey team—I promise her brother I’ll protect her. And the lies I tell myself only get worse. I lie to myself about the sparks that crackle in the air when we’re alone. I lie to myself about why I chase off other guys who try to hit on her. I lie to myself about the dreams I have where I touch parts of her I shouldn’t even imagine. When a scorching kiss reveals that she’s been lying to herself, too, we both tell ourselves the biggest lie of all. That we can cross the line, burn off the lust that’s built up for years, and then go back to normal. But one taste in enough to turn me into an addict. And this is one addiction I know I can’t quit. Even if it costs me everything.

My Review (w/spoilers):
Cole & Brooke
This is the fourth book in Mrs. Lemire’s Hot Shot series. While this is the last book out, based on the ending of it, I would assume there will be at least one more out–Ryders story. While I enjoyed Mrs. Lemire’s writing, I don’t think I’ll be reading any more in the series. Maybe down the road, but not now.
I really enjoyed this book. It’s of course written in my favorite trope– Best Friend’s Sister, so I knew I would at least like it.
While this is technically a Hockey Romance, this book takes place at the end of the semester, lending into the summer.
I liked the whole premise of this story. I liked that Cole got jealous when Brooke danced with other people. That they studied together, had lunch together. They did so much together it was surprising they didn’t realize sooner. But I understand fear was holding them back.
“Why lie to myself anymore? I love her. I’ve always loved her. And being able to love her, openly, truly, permanently, it’s always been my deepest desire. More than making it to the pros in hockey. More than anything else.” -Cole
The road trip was fun. The knocking in West Virginia was creepy as all heck! I would’ve been just as freaked out as Brooke was! Haha NO THANK YOU!
I was so happy when they finally gave into their feelings for each other! Geez! The buildup was insane. But worth it.
I was cheering them on when they went back to L.A. to see Gage and tell him that they loved each other, and he needed to get over it. Good for them!
I also read the bonus chapter where they tell the team that they’re dating and then we get an extra bonus steamy scene. I was grinning the whole time I read it.
Altogether a really good book! Short, steamy and swoony! I would definitely recommend it.
If you’re looking for an amazing, steamy, swoony jockey romance, I would definitely recommend Samantha Whiskey’s Carolina Reapers Series. I’m almost finished with it, and it’s amazing!
