Book Description: The rules were simple. Keep my hands off his daughter and stay out of trouble. But now I’m stuck with her. There’s only one bed. And well, rules are made to be broken. I’m the face of professional bull riding—the golden boy. Or at least I was, until it all blew up in my face. Now my agent says I have to clean up my image, so I’m stuck with his ball-busting daughter for the rest of the season as my “full-time supervision.” But I don’t need a goddamn babysitter, especially one with skin-tight jeans, a sexy smirk, and a mouth she can’t stop running. A mouth I can’t stop thinking about. Because Summer isn’t just another conquest. She sees the man behind the mask, and she doesn’t run—she pulls me closer, even when she shouldn’t. She says this means nothing. I say this means everything. She says there are boundaries we shouldn’t cross. That my reputation can’t take any more hits—and neither can her damaged heart. I say I’m going to steal it anyway.

My Review (w/spoilers):

Rhett & Summer

This is book one of Elsie Silver’s new series that follows the Eaton Brothers–Chestnut Springs-there are three brothers and one sister (Violet, who’s story is told in A Photo Finish), so I anticipate a total of three books. And then of course Jasper, the best friend.

The first cowboy book I read was Nicholas Sparks’ The Longest Ride. If you’ve seen the movie, yes it’s great! I mean who can say no to Clint Eastwood’s sexy son. But as great as it is, the book is better. With that being said, The Longest Ride is one of my all time favorite romance novels. It has a similar premise to this-does the cowboy give up his dangerous love of riding a bull for the woman he loves? The answer both times is yes. Because you always choose the woman/man.

A flirty smirk on his lips, eyes partially obscured by a worn cowboy hat, and the pièce de résistance . . . Wrangler jeans that hugged all the best parts.” -Summer

I really enjoyed this book. Cowboys are it for me man. Sign me up! I’m there! So I was glad this book wasn’t a let down. It had all the right amounts of angst, swoons, steam and laughs. Forced proximity is always fun. It makes the two characters face their feelings.

As much as Rhett hates milk, if it wasn’t for milk and his comments, he never would have met Summer. Oh, the irony!

I loved when all the brothers were together! They’re banter was great. “I sneak my finger into my mouth and give him a big, slippery wet willy on the way past. And it’s surprisingly satisfying.” -Rhett Growing up with 10+ siblings, I thoroughly enjoy reading about family/sibling dynamics. Cade was a hard ass, and you can clearly tell he’s going though some stuff. We read about his story in the next book–Heartless.

Summer’s story with Dr. Douche was a bit… upsetting? I’m glad Rhett punched him in the face, he definitely deserved worse. What a perv. I wish knew more about how that unfolded with Winter. In the epilogue, we just find out that they haven’t spoken.

“Maybe that’s why you handle me so well.” “Handle you? Rhett Eaton, I don’t think anyone can truly handle you. I’m just along for the ride.” “F*** yeah, you are.”

Her relationship with her dad was nice. I felt bad about the whole dynamic with Summer’s real mom and step mom. She didn’t deserve the treatment she got and I’m glad her dad stood by her. I also liked that he knew Summer and Rhett would end up with each other. He’s a decent guy and I liked his banter.

I liked that because of what Summer went through with her heart problems, she lived her life by asking her self one question: If this were my last moment on earth, would I go happy? That kind of question really puts things into perspective for you.

Altogether, a really good cowboy read! I would definitely read it again. I’m looking forward to reading Cade’s story, but even more, Beau’s story!

This is book 1 out of 4 in the Chestnut Springs Series. It is however, a standalone.
